Delhi's wedding season runs from November to February, and every year the same thing happens: brides, grooms and guests book everything in the last week, then wonder why their smoothening still feels stiff in the photos or why the new colour looks too bright. The fix is simple. Some salon services need time to settle, so the order and timing matter as much as the treatment itself.
Here is the countdown our stylists give to every bride and groom who walks in, with what to book, when, and why.

6 to 8 weeks before: decide and test
- Decide on texture. If frizz is a problem, this is the time to plan a smoothening. If your hair is already manageable, a keratin treatment or hair spa may be all you need.
- Decide on colour. Want to cover greys, go a shade richer, or add highlights? Book a consultation and, for a new shade, try it now so there is time to adjust.
- Do a skin patch test for any new hair colour, 48 hours before the colour appointment. It is quick and it matters.
- Start the home basics: water, sleep, and a weekly oil massage on the lengths.
4 weeks before: smoothening or keratin
Smoothening needs time. For the first few days you cannot wash your hair or tie it, and for a week or two the hair is still settling into its new shape. Doing it about four weeks out means it looks natural and swingy by the wedding, not freshly ironed.
At Coolcut: L'Oréal smoothening + Protek keratin 2-in-1 is ₹2,000 for women and ₹1,500 for men. See the smoothening deal.
If you only want softness and shine without changing your texture, a keratin treatment (₹1,500) can be done around the same time.
2 to 3 weeks before: colour and a trim
- Colour after smoothening, not before. Leave at least two weeks between the two chemical services. A global colour or root touch-up now still looks fresh on the day.
- Choose the right colour. L'Oréal Majirel gives strong grey coverage (₹1,000 global, ₹700 root touch-up). INOA is ammonia free and gentler (₹1,500 global).
- Highlights? Do them now too, so any tone adjustments can happen before the big day. Highlights are ₹2,000 global, or ₹200 per streak.
- Get a trim. Clean ends make every hairstyle look better, open or tied.

1 week before: facial and hair spa
- Bridal or groom facial, 5 to 7 days before. A facial can bring a few spots to the surface in the first couple of days. A week's gap lets the skin calm down and glow. Our O3+ bridal facial is ₹1,500, and the O3+ groom facial is ₹1,500.
- Hair spa. A L'Oréal hair spa (₹700, or ₹1,000 with an ampoule for dry or treated hair) puts moisture back after smoothening and colour, so the hair is soft and shiny for styling.
- No new products. This is not the week to try a new face wash, serum or shampoo.
2 to 3 days before: the finishing touches
- Threading and upper lip (₹50), so any redness has gone by the day.
- D-Tan or clean-up. An O3+ D-Tan bleach (₹300) or a face massage evens out tan from all the shopping trips.
- Grooms: haircut three to five days before so it looks natural, not freshly cut; beard trim and shape two days before. Beard colour, if you use it, two to three days before (₹600 with Majirel).
The day before
Wash and condition your hair (clean hair, not product-heavy hair, is what a hairstylist wants), get a good night's sleep, and drink plenty of water. If you are having a blow-dry or setting done, a blow-dry is ₹100 and roll setting ₹200.
A simple plan for guests and family
Not the bride or groom but attending three functions in a week? One visit about five days before covers most of it: a hair spa, a VLCC gold or diamond facial (₹700 / ₹800), threading, and a root touch-up if your greys are showing.
Frequently asked questions
Can I do smoothening one week before my wedding?
You can, but it is not ideal. The hair may still feel a little flat and you will have just finished the no-wash days. Three to four weeks is the sweet spot.
Should I colour before or after smoothening?
After. Smoothen first, wait at least two weeks, then colour. Colour put on before smoothening can fade or change tone during the smoothening process.
Is a bridal facial different from a normal facial?
The O3+ bridal facial is our most complete facial, with more steps and more time on the skin than a regular facial. It is designed for exactly this occasion.
Do you do bridal makeup?
Our salons focus on hair, skin and grooming. For the day itself, pair your Coolcut prep with your chosen makeup artist.
